Ok, here goes. I am still waiting for the rest of my order from Easybrew. I placed the original order on the 18th of July; 7 weeks ago! I received part of the order in early August (approx. the 8th) but not enough stuff arrived to let me get a brew going
I sent them an email advising them to let me know when the rest of the order shipped so that I could arrange to be in when it arrived. They agreed, but that was the last I heard.
I’ve emailed several times since, several of these messages have been bounced back with the “Receiving Inbox Full” error.
I tried to ring them yesterday but got a “Busy” tone.
Has anyone else had any orders from them go astray recently? Does anyone know what is going? Leave a comment if you have any info/advice.
Many thanks.

DO NOT DEAL WITH EASYBREW. Having done about £150 worth of business with them previously – I placed an order in March this year, £75 paid in full. It was not delivered and despite many calls and emails – some promising a refund – no money and no beer. They tell lies routinely.
One story I got from them was that their delivery people were returning the delivery documents as ‘delivered’ whilst the goods got lost. Whatever the truth – even when they were delivering, the product was often damaged.
I am angry. They have had my £75 for 7 months and I don’t have the product. By any definition I know, that is theft.
Anyone fancy calling the police?
Comment by Cliff Ingram October 23, 2007 @ 7:46 pmThanks for the comment Cliff, I’ve sent you a private email message in response.
Thanks for stopping by.

Comment by Graham Dinsdale October 24, 2007 @ 8:44 amI had the same problem as Cliff. I have used this company twice and both times the order was delivered very late, after telling me that the delivery company said they had delivered the order. This time I received my order 10 days after the expected delivery date, the box was falling apart and the order incomplete. I used easybrew because they seem to have all the products I want. However, I think they lie on their website and order to demand. I will never use them again and will be using Hambleton bard from now on, as they can get anything you want and deliver within 4 days if they have to order in, less if in stock.
I am very mad. My xmas brewing is messed up and I going to have to buy shop beer.
Comment by Damian Jones December 13, 2007 @ 7:44 pmYep Easytwats screwed me over, ordered a barrel 5 weeks ago at christmas, still waiting, they said that their courier lost the whole van load of deliveries and now they are waiting for another. stay away from them, trading standards aware!
Comment by T Bradley January 29, 2008 @ 9:12 pmThanks for the comments from Damian Jones and T. Bradley. Sorry to hear of your problems with Easybrew. I’ve sort of given up on chasing my order (it was about 7 months ago). Having said that, I am going to get in touch with trading standards in the Hampshire area because it seems that there are a number of people who have had “problems”. Keep me up to date with any developments.
Happy brewing, and thanks for stopping by!

Comment by Graham Dinsdale January 30, 2008 @ 9:57 amHi guys sorry to hear about the probs from easybrew, damn that would pi$$ me off waiting that long to brew one up. I ordered £80 worth of stuff from them on Tuesday night and to my surprise it was on my doorstep this afternoon (Thursday). Not defending them as this was my first order from them but after reading your above comments think i’ll stick with AOB. Chances are i just got lucky being a first time buyer from them.
Happy brewing folks…if your kit ever arrives!
Comment by David Kennedy February 7, 2008 @ 9:56 pmI wish I’d come across this messageboard earlier! My experience is similar to that of others: excuses that they were waitng for stock to arrive; they’d been let down by their delivery company; they’d sent me explanatory emails that inexplicably had not arrived; the boss wasn’t in at the moment would phone me to explain; a refund had been sent to my account….None of this actually happened. Has any body taken further action? Trading Standards? Solicitors?
Comment by John Finnerty February 23, 2008 @ 12:26 pmHas anyone’s problems been resolved with this company. I am also experiencing very similiar problems with them after making an order for quite a significant amount of money over a month ago and so far have not received anything from the order.
Comment by Justin Bloom February 24, 2008 @ 11:24 pmJohn Finnerty: I’ve not taken any further action yet but seeing the amount of people who have had a problem I think I will organize something via Trading Standards.
OK guys, I’m sensing that there are a lot of you out there who have had problems with Easybrew. What I think we should do is detailed in this post here.
Let me know if you agree and want in on this.
Thanks.
Comment by Graham Dinsdale February 25, 2008 @ 10:20 amDamian Jones. I am sorry to hear about your problem with late delivery. I was not aware of this situation. If you wish to contact me to discuss this, please drop me an email and I will get back to you – annette.ferre@easybrew.co.uk. We do keep fairly large stocks of products particularly hops and grains. However, we place large orders with our suppliers and it takes a while for them to get the orders ready and shipped.
Graham Dinsdale – Graham according to our records we have no items outstanding for you. Again, please do contact me if this is not the case and I will sort it out for you.
David Kennedy – this was the normal standard of service we aim to achieve.
John Finnerty – you have requested and received a full refund.
Justin Bloom – following on from our conversations and emails recently you have received free free goods totally £80.00 with your order and are now satisfied with the level of compensation for the delay.
T Bradley – we kept you informed at all times of the delay with your order by email. All of our suppliers were out of stock of the barrel you required after Christmas and there was a delay in manufacturing more stocks.
We aim, at all times, to give a good service to all of our customers. After all, without happy customers we would have no business.
I am sorry that for you people here we did not give an acceptable level of service.
EasyBrew moved to new and bigger premises, with a warehouse so we could keep higher levels of stock. We had severely underestimated the success of the website and had been having problems fulfilling orders within the time limits we had hoped to achieve. We now have better systems in place and more staff to ensure this does not happen again. Additionally, we are now set up that should items be out of stock we are able to contact all customers to advise the items out of stock, how long until the item comes into stock and asking if they would like to change for an alternative, similar item that we do have in stock.
I would like to resolve that at the earliest possible opportunity. If you would like to email me at annette.ferre@easybrew.co.uk or telephone on 01425 479972 (I will phone you straight back) I will aim to resolve any issues you may have.

Thanks Annette for contacting us like this. My problem is now completely sorted, thanks.
I have emailed everyone here with a message to tell them to contact you directly.

Comment by Graham Dinsdale March 10, 2008 @ 10:18 amI must say that Annette has now rectified all of my issues with Easybrew including a very gracious gift for the problems. I am still waiting for a couple of items that they are having problems getting stock of but I am being kept informed of what is going on now so I am a lot happier.

Pingback by Easybrew.co.uk - Order problems resolved! « Home Brew Beer - Est. 2006 March 10, 2008 @ 10:39 amThis company is awful!
I ordered two brew kits on the 10th Feb and am still awaiting their arrival.
First- I never got a confirmation email.
Then I was told that the kits had been delivered when I was out so asked for the kits to be delivered to my work address.
When they did not arrive I rang again, finally making contact with someone after endless unanswered phone calls and answerphone messages.
I was told that my beer had been delivered to Bedford!!! Completelyt wrong -don’t know anyone there, though from the comments above it seems this isn’t the first time they’ve pulled this trick.
He said the boss would ring me, presumably Annette Fere – the next day. She didn’t nor did any one answer the phone!!!
Email doesn’t work, (they bounce back) nor does phone, so I have resorted to writing a letter though no doubt that will be ignored too!
What else can I do?
How do I report them to trading standards?
I have a friend who works for a consumer watchdog magazine – will reporting them make a difference do you think?
Cheers,
Tom

Thanks for your comment

Comment by Graham Dinsdale March 14, 2008 @ 10:27 amWhy did I bother?
I put my order in on the 10th of January and it’s now the 18th of April with still nothing having been delivered.
I’m experiencing all the same problems as everyone else and getting the same old excuses aswell;
Apparently their suppliers are out of stock (do they actually keep anything in stock?) and despite one or two e-mails telling me they should have my order within a week, i’ve had absolutely zilch.
What can I do?
Harry
Comment by Harry Geeves April 18, 2008 @ 8:32 amI have been having the exact same problems, I ordered a cider kit 3 weeks ago tomorrow and it still has not arrived after being promised a maximum of a 7 day delay. After this 7 day delay was over I was not even contacted to have additional delays explained to me. I have attempted to contact them several times but they never reply.
If this problem is not rectified in the next couple of days I will be contacting trading standards in Hampshire, followed by my solicitor
Comment by Louis McLean April 23, 2008 @ 1:12 pmi have still hadno luck getting my order or getting a full refund as promised,so i have contacted ,The BBC Watchdog team to see if they can apply any shame on this so called company, despite what you said graham,it only took 30seconds for them to take my cash,so it should take the same ammount of time to return it ,.,!!
Comment by mr r jewitt May 10, 2008 @ 5:42 pmMr Jewitt,
I think there are a few things you should at least try before contacting BBC Watchdog!
The first thing to do is contact trading standards in Hampshire (where Easybrew are based). Alternatively you could go to your local Citizens Advice Bureau.
The next thing to do is write/telephone/email Easybrew with a threat of legal action, including very specific conditions about what you want to happen to resolve your problem (refund or goods delivered?, timeline?)
Only if all this fails (unlikely) would I go any further.
Good luck though, I hope it works out for you.
Comment by Graham Dinsdale May 12, 2008 @ 1:15 pmwell graham i finally got my refund this morning ,i really had given up on them.buta full 4 weeks on i got back my cash.Is it a possibility they keep our cash for the interest,?please give me feed back,r
Comment by mr r jewitt May 14, 2008 @ 9:02 pmMr Jewitt,
I’m glad to hear that you got your money back… eventually!
I honestly don’t think that Easybrew are being deliberately dishonest in their business dealings. My view is that they are just badly disorganised and have no idea about stock levels/control.
If you find somewhere else to buy homebrew stuff from, let me know. I have used the hop and grape, who seem to know what they’re doing.
Cheers

Comment by ed July 11, 2008 @ 9:46 amSadly I’ve also had problems too. I ordered a full beer starter kit on May 27th. It is now July 15th with several emails and calls passed.
I’m on my second request to get a refund on my payment!
I’ve resorted to passing over the issue to my credit card company who will recover the payment on my behalf.
EasyBrew is rubbish, they should not be allowed to trade!!! I will be sending all info to trading standards.

Pingback by | Brew Community July 16, 2008 @ 6:23 amI just discovered this thread having ordered from easybrew on 7th July 2007. After a day I received a very polite e-mail saying that due to their ‘free postage’ offer on the Tom Caxton kit I’d ordered, it was out of stock but would be in within 14 days. I was given the option to wait or cancel. Since then I’ve phoned and e-mailed numerous times with no response. There’s an answer machine message there that was recorded on 23rd July and hasn’t changed since. Unfortunately they’ve billed my card – and included postage!
I live locally and intend to pop over and see them
I’ll post again if I get a result!
BTW – in the mean time I’ve ordered from http://www.hopshopuk.com and received a brilliant service. Spoke to the proprietor, a chap called Hywel, on the phone. Very helpful bloke. Stuff arrived next day. Max postage was under a fiver regardless of size of order.
Comment by Jonathan Mitchell July 29, 2008 @ 12:43 pmOrder placed with easy brew on 12/07/08 they took there money next day from my credit card. since then despite several phone calls + emails i have heard nothing from them. Trade with this company again they have no chance.
Comment by Les Boardman July 29, 2008 @ 7:09 pmRight then…
I popped over to Easybrew today to find that the shop (and it is a shop) was shut with a notice on the door saying that the proprietor had a hospital appointment but would be back tomorrow.
Have posted a letter through the door demanding goods or refund by tomorrow or I’ll ring trading standards.
I did, however, speak to the shop’s landlord who said that the business was a going concern and rent was paid up to date but that the owner was having ‘personal problems’ which meant she (as it seems to be a one woman show) wasn’t keeping regular hours. He’s seen her this morning and she’d said she was having a large stock delivery this week.
I’ll keep you posted!

Pingback by Easybrew.co.uk Problems | Brew Community July 31, 2008 @ 4:21 pmI eventually got my money back (as item still out of stock after a month) today by visiting the shop itself. The man I spoke to had no knowledge of my phone calls, e-mails or the letter I previously posted through the door.
He promised that new stock was due to be delivered by the end of the week.
Comment by Jonathan Mitchell August 5, 2008 @ 10:20 amWow! I thought it was just me. I have waiting over 2 months now for my stuff from Easy Brew. They are f*cking useless. I have made endless phonecalls (no answer), sent several e-mails and still my wine kits have not turned up.
I live in the Middle East where alcohol is banned, but the wine kits are not! After getting through once, I was told that the kits were out of stock, and that I would be sent alternative kits asap. Its been 10 days now, and still nothing!
The woman I spoke to was called Annette. She is F*CKING LIAR, and I want my 35quid back.
Comment by David Gibbs August 5, 2008 @ 10:20 pmI sympathise David. I eventually phoned trading standards on 08454 040506 (from the UK) and spoke to someone called Chris. Apparently the law under the ‘Consumer protection distance selling act’ states that they have 30 days from the date of purchase to supply goods or a refund. As I understand it, after 30 days, they’re breaking UK law. I got a refund after 29 days but only by turning up in person. I’d give trading standards a bell if they won’t listen to any other means of communication. Good luck
Comment by - August 5, 2008 @ 11:00 pmI also wish I’d seen this thread before ordering!
I’ve tried countless ‘phone calls, to get an update on my order, only to get the constant ring or engaged tone.
I have now sent an e-mail from the comments page as well as to Annette’s address (as shown above)and hopefully will hear something back from them.
Obviously Annette’s personal conditions are unfortunate, however they should not be continuing to accept orders they cannot fulfil.
Comment by Chris Hatton September 8, 2008 @ 8:48 pmFurther to the note on the Distance Selling Regulations. They are also bound by the Sale of Goods Act 1979. If the the goods are not sent on a next day delivery, as quoted, then they are in breach on contract, as they have not provided goods as described within the agreed time..
Comment by Chris Hatton September 9, 2008 @ 12:48 pmI, too have had problems with Easy Brew. I put two orders in within minutes of each other. One was delivered, the other is still outstanding after a month. No-one answers the phone and no replies to email. The money was taken out of my account pretty sharpish though! I will be reporting Easy Brew to the Trading Standards if I don’t get my goods soon. Sorry you’ve all had problems but I’m somewhat relieved that there’s some great information in this thread. I did wonder if the proprietor had had an emergency but sympathy can only stretch so far before frustration kicks in . Deb – East Sussex
Comment by Deb Fisher September 11, 2008 @ 1:44 pmI wish I’d read all this before I ordered goods from this company on August 20th (2008). I’ve received nothing so far, nor had replies to phonecalls. On that, and reading numerous complaints about them here and elsewhere, I’ve reported them to Trading Standards this morning, who’ve advised me to demand my refund in writing.
I’m then supposed to give EB 30 days to do so, and contact TS again if I get no joy. I’m not overly hopeful, though.
I paid by debit card, so I’ve little protection. The amount wasn’t huge (£22), but with everybody else’s paid for, but unreceived goods, it seems Ms Ferre is sitting on quite a pile. >:-(
Sorry everyone else is having similar problems. I’ll be watching to see what transpires.
- Susan.
Comment by Susan, Glasgow September 30, 2008 @ 9:35 amSame sad story but it’s only been two weeks and I’m not going to hang about. I’ve demanded a refund already but I’ll be keeping a stopwatch on this one. I’d really prefer the goods but they’re not keeping my money until they ‘get around’ to delivering what I ordered.
Sounds like trading standards know a bit about this lot.
Comment by Steve September 30, 2008 @ 4:57 pmIt’s just happened to me! I feel so angry and wished I’d had the presence of mind to look-up the company before parting with my money.
I suggest everybody contact Tradind Standardd for the Hampshire Region (SW) because they will only act if there is sufficient complaints to warrant time being spent. Also there is a site called http://www.ripofftipoff.net where one can log issues.
What we need is someone to take-down the Easybrew site – it’s still being maintained and somewhere there is a bank account collecting money of unsuspecting punters like me!
Comment by peter lawton October 6, 2008 @ 8:54 amBE CAREFUL EVEN IF YOU DO GET A REFUND. This company seems to have a habit of taking back any refunds given a few days afterwards. Check your bank statements carefuly. I am being advised by Trading Standards as to the procedure regarding this. If this has happened to you PLEASE email Hants Trading Standards. The more complaints they get the more likely they will do something.
Comment by Helen October 6, 2008 @ 9:02 amOK Helen, that clinches it!
If there is even the slightest chance that this company and this Ferre person will debit accounts a second or subsequent time then this will be clearly fraudulent activity and the primary concern has to be self-protection. I suggest that those impacted cancel their debit card and ask their banks to reissue a new one. It’s a small inconvenience in my view. My loss currently stands at c. £27 but I really don’t it to grow.
Accordingly I have informed my Bank’s fraud team. I have written to Consumer Direct/Trading Standards who will need to hear from more of you before they deploy resources on this, so please treat this as a call to arms. If it helps, you can link your inquiries to my reference to get things going: SW493055
This woman has completely changed my attitude towards using the internet and although I doubt she is a master-criminal I prefer not to take any more chances.
Comment by peter lawton October 6, 2008 @ 10:35 amThis is who Trading Standards, Hants redirects you to when you want to report a trader… http://www.consumerdirect.gov.uk
I have also informed the host for their website who is now investigating whether they can suspend their service due to them now taking money from people’s accounts without authorisation.
Comment by Helen October 6, 2008 @ 2:38 pmi am having the same problems as everbody else it seems,no goods delivered, and looking at the amount of feedback ,i should imagine ,quite a lot of money involved.i have spoken to trading standards and there advice was to send a recorded delivery letter claiming my money back under the consumer protection{distance selling}regulations 2000,so i will see what happens
Comment by chris stacey October 8, 2008 @ 8:33 amI have contacted Ringwood Town Council (Public Authority) and told them that they may have a problem with a local trader. I did this because Trading Standards are nigh-on impossible to contact and the Consumer Direct site is no longer appropriate if we are to stop this trader from taking money from any other and unsuspecting consumers.
Comment by peter lawton October 8, 2008 @ 3:54 pmOh no,im another one! Wish i had seen this first i spent £190 on my first delve into cider making,to say im sick is an understament.Spoke on the phone to her last week and they were waiting on some stuff to be delivered and i should receive it all by last weekend, mmm rite! not getting answers to my phone calls, emails etc.
Comment by Ross Sturgeon October 8, 2008 @ 6:11 pmthe website should be shut down, hell they cant even spell, giving a discount on the main page!
Oh No!
I’m another! Been homebrewing for a while but say some items on easybrew that couldnt be got elsewhere. So within the last fortnight placed an order to the value of £93 and have had no confirmation email, no call. Nothing. Called but no answer. What can i do?
My money was taken promptly.
I have added this page to my favourites, so will be coming back tomorrow. Can we do anything this is thieft!

Comment by chris stacey October 10, 2008 @ 5:01 pmI ordered from easybrew in September 2008 and I am still waiting for the order. They ignore e mails and phone calls. Can we get together and take them to court? How about trading standards.
Comment by Margaret Day October 17, 2008 @ 10:37 amI placed 2 orders 30 and 120 pounds and did not receive either. Phonecalls, emails, promises all have not worked.
This lady, no alledged thief would be more appropriate, dent me two bogus conformation slips stating that money had been paid into my account.
Needless to say, I am VERY annoyed, the simple fact is that I and my friens, will pay a vist to the company within the next four weeks and personally ‘ask’ for my money back!
Comment by Graeme Bell October 24, 2008 @ 8:59 amHi,
I also pay in August and did not receive goods. I have now made a claim through HM Court. It takes 5 mins and costs £25 up front but the claim is for original goods + the £25 fee + interest + wasted time and the impact on my business.
For HM Court Service. call Customer Help Desk between 9:00am to 5:00pm, Monday to Friday (tel. 0845601 5935).

OK for those still waiting I have had some success with my two-pronged approach, see my earlier posts.
1) Contact Ringwood Town Council and alert them to your issue and ask that they add your concerns to any others they may have received as a matter of ‘Public Interest’ for the attention of the trading standards officer for Ringwood.
2) Contact your bank (internet fraud team or similar) asking that they investigate why money was taken from your account before shipment of goods or to explain any other applicable and unusual transactions. Intention here is to implicate/join the Easybrew bankers in Easybrew’s activities and the more that bank is approached the more likely it is that they will want to distance themselves. In any event we probably cannot interact with Easybrew’s bank but your bank will probably be able to approach them direct and the more this happens the more Easybrew’s bank will have knowledge of the dubious dealings imputed to them and so take action!
I have also discovered another email address for Easybrew: annette.ferre@btopenworld.com
Good luck!

Comment by Ross Sturgeon October 26, 2008 @ 10:07 amInitially I sent a fax to: +44(0)1425489477 setting out my concerns and enclosing my email address.
Then a Ringwood official responded directly to my email address.
Comment by peter lawton October 27, 2008 @ 2:35 pmHi, I placed an order at the beginning of October – I only wish I had seen this before ordering! It’s now the 27th and I have tried emailing/phoning repeatedly and receive no answer. We did get an email advising a few things were out of stock, but would be delivered within 7-10 days (maximum). Since then, absolutely nothing, despite every effort on our part to contact her. I can’t believe that the money was debited instantly – with obvious knowledge that the products weren’t available. The website should be shut down! I will be reporting Annette Ferre too. There’s one thing her company isn’t and that’s easy.
Comment by Nicky October 27, 2008 @ 3:26 pmPlease see my post dated 09OCT08
Well I have mananged to speak to Annette on the phone (lucky me, I know!), and she told me i had been sent 2 emails explaining that there was some delay with my order – I can assure you no message had been sent or recevied.
Asked for a refund on the phone which she said she would sort straight away – it wasnt.
emailed a copule of days later and she said she knew i had spoken to ’someone’ in the office ( it was her) and was going to sort my refund. Using a different email address gave her the excuse that im using different email addresses so this must be the reason i didnt see her emails, erm, it wasnt!
After twice asking for a refund i was then told my items were arriving that afternoon. Would you beleive this after the crap so far, so i again reiterated i had twice requested a refund!.
I was then offered a free gift if i still took the order – again reiterated all i was after was my refund – for the third time!
Out the the blue i then receved an email saying sorry for the delay, but due to sudden illness there was a delay with the orders but ‘all the staff’ were working extra hours to catch up. I asked why i was receving this message as i was after my refund! She then apologised for what i could see was her delaying email by looking at previous posts!
So anyway, got an email with a transaction confirmation for a refund. It was dated on the 15OCT08 – still nothing has come into my account.
Contacted her and she said contacted her merchant bank and it didnt go through so offered to send me a cheque!!!!!
Normally with a retailer if you pay by card – they refund you by card.
Said didnt want cheque (as hut hum, this could get lost in the post) so i have now been added to her Spam filter so all my messages are now blocked.
THEY TAKE THE CASH IMMEDIATLEY EVEN THOUGH THEY OBVI0USLY DONT HAVE THE ITEMS. but then wont refund. This is daylight robbery. How can anyone sleep at night whilst carrying out this behaviour. With all the constant lies this is obviously a troubled woman.
Anyone thinking of paying a personal visit to collect your cash please email me at hairychurch at btopenworld dot com as i would be delighted in sharing the cost of fuel to go and collect the cash.
I will keep you updated, but Annette if you are reading this my patience is running out i will not take too much more before exploring my options.
Best regards

Comment by nathan October 28, 2008 @ 1:17 pmI got an email back form ringwood council, say sorry they couldnt help me,and told me to contact trading standards, and have also passed my email onto ringwood police! thank god i didnt loose my patience in the email.
Comment by Ross Sturgeon October 29, 2008 @ 12:45 pmOh No… I’m yet another that’s been caught and from looking at all the feedback things are getting worse from sept onwards. I ordere on 24th Sept and like most wish I’d checked things out beforehand. Spent £87 on wine making stuff, seemed so good on web, and am still waiting. I’ve had the same problems, phones and e mails unaswered. Happened to get someone answer one day 2 weeks ago who said initially order had strangely been cancelled, when I said no money been refunded to my account was told hang on no it’s still here we seem to have missed it. Profuse apologies and promise it would be sent out by end of that week.On 15th Oct also got e mail saying Annette F had been off sick, was now back & taking on extra staff to catch up, so I sent conciliatory e mail saying how sorry I was!!! On 20th Oct got e mail to say delivery would be there on Fri, granted it didn’t specify a date I just assumed it would be the 25th!! Took day off work and no delivery.Have sent e amils since and then read review on another site re bad experience. I’ve been in touch with Hampshire Trading Standards who directed me to consumer advice site. Thay have replied advising I send recorded delivery letter asking for full refund under Consumer goods Distance Selling legislation. Not overly hopeful but am really angry and intend pursuing matter to the end as grief I am getting at home is riling me as well!!! Something has to be done to stop this activity by this woman.
Comment by Carys James October 29, 2008 @ 1:13 pmI placed an order for a beer kit and associated equipment from Easybrew on 15th August by credit card. The payment was taken from my card without dispatching goods which I understand may be a fraudulent activity on behalf of Easybrew.
Despite numerous e-mails to Easybrew and a promisory response from Annette Frere of Easybrew my order has not been received.
I have now contacted my credit card company and logged a dispute with them against this trader – Easybrew.
My experience would suggest that Easybrew should not be trading. If anyone has any thoughts or other ideas for recourse let me know. Perhaps a collective action towards Trading Standards from those who have lost out to Easybrew and possibly an investigative on the tellivison to expose Easybrew might be good thing.
If you are considering purchasing anything from Easybrew and you have the benefit of this website and the comments left within – do think again.
Does anyone know if Easybrew could be considered in debt as a result of their [in]activities and would it be possible to seek liquidation of Easybrew?
Comment by Peter Miller October 29, 2008 @ 3:45 pmStill no response from easybrew so contacted consumer direct (As per Carys’s post). They suggested that we’re protected under legislation and even have a template letter here:
http://www.consumerdirect.gov.uk/after_you_buy/making-complaint/template-letters/dsr_letter/
(amend as necessary)
I’ll try sending this, recorded delivery and see if that gets a response.
Comment by Steve October 29, 2008 @ 4:35 pmConsumer Direct is not the best approach if one wants to stop Ms Ferre’s activities because it remains a personal matter.
When I wrote to the Ringwood Town Council I made it clear that I them to treat this as a public interest matter in the area for which they had public accountability. Here is the text I used:
“Dear Sir,
This message is to inform you of some potentially fraudulent trading in your area.
This matter has Public Interest. I have already lodged a personal case via Consumer Direct who have logged the complaint as SW493055.
Therefore, I contact you direct because it is now very apparent that a number of individuals have been adversely impacted by this trader and as the Public Authority organisation ultimately responsible to Government for the Ringwood area I ask that you should take immediate steps to direct the local Trading Standards officers to investigate the following company/individuals and stop them from taking money under false pretences:
Annette Ferre, Proprietor
EasyBrew
4 Enterprise Park
86 Parsonage Barn Lane
Ringwood
Hampshire BH24 1PZ
Tel: 01425 479972
Web: http://www.easybrew.co.uk
Email: annette.ferre@easybrew.co.uk
The above organisation continues to operate as an internet based trader who, at the time of writing, still appears to be taking money from unsuspecting consumers. There is evidently an active bank account for this trader (receiving payment before issuing goods) and an internet presence facilitating the transactions, both of which should be stopped before anyone else loses money.
Please, I urge you to treat this matter very seriously. Evidence of a number of the victims can be obtained from the following website: {this one}”
So the very act of logging concerns to this site is evidence that this is a continuing problem one which Ringwood Town Council would be negligent to ignore if they do not deploy the proper agencies/authorities.
Unless you have used a credit card, and so have credit protection, I also urge you to contact your banks fraud departments per my earlier message(s). Barclays were very responsive for me.
I don’t know if my approach is the best one but I firmly believe it’s important to build some momentum with the correct agencies.
Comment by peter lawton October 30, 2008 @ 12:33 pmAFTERTHOUGHT:-
============
In the US there is the concept of a “Take-Down” letter or notice. I presume it is a form of summary judgment for injunctive relief but particularly where the internet is being used illegally; i.e., Take Down the Site!
If you want to see the impact of a ‘Take-Down’ then look at the following URL: http://www.olga.net/
Pity we don’t appear to have something similar here. In the UK we could probably apply through the courts for an equivalent order of the court using the following Civil Procedure Rule: http://www.justice.gov.uk/civil/procrules_fin/contents/parts/part24.htm

Comment by peter lawton October 30, 2008 @ 12:50 pmUpdate for record. I had e mailed easy brew on 28th stating I wouldbe contacting Trading Standards and solicitor if I did not hear from them in 24hrs. Well suprise of suprises I got e mail from Annette Ferres yesterday 29th stating that she was working from home so couldn’t access database but was sure order had been despatched, she would check today and phone me!!! She made no reference to my theratening legal action etc and used a previous e mail to tag a response on to. I intend to send registered letter to see if that gets response but agree with Peter that something should be done to stop others getting caught. I also intend to contact my bank as I paid by debit card.
Comment by Carys James October 30, 2008 @ 12:52 pmCarys;
she said the same thing to me in an email dated 21/10/08. Don’t believe a word, as Thin Lizzy once famously sang.
Comment by Geoff Saunders November 1, 2008 @ 1:49 pmGuys
Contacted trading standards, they have said as above send a recorded delivery letter.

Comment by Paul Church November 3, 2008 @ 3:44 pmsleazybrew have stolen £15 from me regarding a wine kit, damn Im mad, have waited 10 weeks now, Im actually thinking of phoning the police about this, or at least alerting watchdog
Comment by ben November 4, 2008 @ 6:17 amI too have been conned by this company, and am taking legal action. I’ve had the range of responses mentioned in the above posts, but no sign of either my goods, or money!
Comment by Tom Jones November 4, 2008 @ 9:44 amHi all, just checked the site and unfortunately it’s up and running today. Going to post my trading stds template letter today but am holding out little hope of seeing my hard earned dosh again!!
Comment by Carys James November 4, 2008 @ 11:20 amAddendum to my previous post, am so annoyed I’ve just checked Companies House website and Easy Brew ( compnay number 05727032) is listed as “Active-Proposal to strike off”. No accounts or returns have been listed this year and are overdue.I’ve noe paid 00.50 to keep track of the company although we all have a good idea which direction it’s headed!!
Comment by Carys James November 4, 2008 @ 11:36 amWow…shock of all shocks. As I was about to write to Easy brew yesterday I got an e mail from Annette Frres , linked to my previous e mail of 28th alering her I was contacting Trading Standards and my solicitor. Yesterday’s e mail siad parcel had been dispatched on 29th Oct, gave me the company name and tracking number. She stated she had checked with them and had been told I would get a delivery today. Lo & behold I have received part of my order…about £15.00 worth out of stock to be delivered in 10 days. Seeing other posts this may be it, should I be grateful for the bulk..yes, am I happy ..NOT ENTIRELY! I will give her another 10days and then start process again to recover £15.00.The information on Companies House web didn’t sound too hopeful. One thing for sure..I WILL NEVER SHOP WITH THEM AGAIN AND WILL ALWAYS GOOGLE TO SEE IF COMPANIES HAVE PROBLEMS BEFORE PURCHASING ANYTHING.
Comment by Carys James November 5, 2008 @ 1:54 pmForgot to add that the extra gift if you purchased over £70 worth of goods was not included, neither was the coniliatory gift worth 10% of my order.( she had promised the latter in an e mail). But hey ho can’t expect to have miracles eh!!!
Comment by Carys James November 5, 2008 @ 1:58 pmOk after 2 months of messing around with this company regarding my order and various threats and arguments with them, I have finally recived my order
Comment by Ben November 6, 2008 @ 12:33 pmI weill never deal with this company again and strongly urge you all to boycott them
Website is still up and running. Ordered £100 wine making kit a couple of months ago which, although was late, turned up complete with free gift. Upon reordering a wine kit and some sundries on 2nd November, nothing has shown up. The lack of response from easybrew (have emailed twice, phoned at least 15 times) disgusts me and I will contact my bank as paid by debit card. I couldnt give a flying f*ck about personal problems- if your in business then you remain professional at all times. if you cant stand the heat…
Comment by Lino November 15, 2008 @ 10:42 amGuys
You may have seen my previous posts….
I FINALLY GOT MY MONEY BACK – VIA CHEQUE SENT BY ANNTETTE RECORDED DELIVERY.
THE ONLY WAY TO DO IT IS:
VISIT HERE: http://www.consumerdirect.gov.uk/after_you_buy/making-complaint/template-letters/dsr_letter/
DOWNLOAD, FILL OUT AND SEND RECORDED DELIVERY LETTER TO ANNETTE.
ONCE SHE SEES THE PROPERELY FORMATTED LETTER, YOU WILL GET A RESPONSE. I WOULD NOT ACCEPT A CHEQUE (AS THIS COULD BE LOST IN THE POST).
SO SHE SENT ME A CHEQUE RECORDED DELIVERY, AND TO MY DELIGHT IT WENT THROUGH OK.
GOOD LUCK ALL AND MERRY CHRISTMASS. FROM NOW ON I WILL USE MY OLD CHESTNUT http://www.brewityourself.co.uk
great website – items delivered the next day!!!
all honest and above bored.
I’ve just like to say, I dont think annette is a crook, she just shouldnt be running a business cos , hey, shes a woman
Comment by Paul Church November 18, 2008 @ 7:00 pmOrdered £43 of goods on the 13th November, got an Email stating there would be a delay as two items were not in stock.
Then looked and found this site…
I will allow the time in the Email for delivery and then take immidiate action to chase a repayment, if I have not received ALL of my order.
Will keep you all posted.
Usually, if a company gets behind on it’s accounts and is trading on unscurpulous terms, it is struck off. A jail term is commonly issued for fraudulent trading but it is very unlikely that the customers will get anything back.
In the meantime I made a parallel order with http://www.leylandhomebrew.co.uk.
They take your order, then take your money only when the order is ready to go out.
Not the best website in the world, but much better business practice.
Best of luck to everyone.
Comment by Concerned customer November 20, 2008 @ 10:49 amHave just posted the above Recorded delivery letter, thanks for the link Paul….will post if I get a response. In fact i’ll probably post if i dont get a response as well!
Comment by Lino November 23, 2008 @ 1:34 pmStill haven’t received anything…
Comment by Concerned customer November 25, 2008 @ 1:20 pmStill can’t get a response via telephone…
I didnt end up sending recorded delivery letter as I did get a response from Annette via email after I advised her I was considering legal action. I have since received a full refund to my card. I echo Pauls comments about Annette, I dont think she is intentionally trying to rip people off, yet it doesnt bode well for a company when so many people are having so much difficulty. Good luck to all concerned, I hope you get the same result before Christmas.
Comment by Lino November 26, 2008 @ 6:43 pmTrying a new supplier is something I won’t be doing in future. Can’t believe what this so called company is up to. I’m in the same boat as everyone else, spent £108 4 weeks ago. Only one e-mail the day after saying items were out of stock so would take a maximum of 10-14 days to arrive, surprise… nothing yet! Numerous telephone calls with no answer and several e-mails with no response. I have sent a cancellation letter stating the Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000 today so will wait to see what happens. I am utterley gob smacked to see the amount of people with problems with this company and to find out this website is still in operation, what’s is going on? My outlook on this is that this woman owns a home brew shop so is probably half cut most of the time, if that were me I wouldn’t probably be able to answer the telephone or reply to e-mails either! If you don’t laugh you’ll have to cry! I hope this comapny is shut down so honest people don’t have to go through this to get their money back. I’m luck that I have spent over £100 so I am covered by my credit card company, a wise choice!
Comment by Kristiaan Ward December 1, 2008 @ 9:18 pmI too have the same issues as above. Have been given the “I’ve been ill” email and since then my e-mails have been opened (read receipt received) but no answer. Will follow some suggestions as above but it’s very frustrating especially at this time of the year. These items were gifts for people that I have paid for and not received. Will now have to pay again and worry if these arrive or not…. not sure who to use!
Comment by C Handley December 2, 2008 @ 12:24 pmMy husband and I both ordered goods from easybrew on 26/10/08 and the money went from our accounts within 24hrs.
After about 2 weeks when no goods arrived I emailed them and asked for an update.
After a few days someone replied saying that they were out of stock of a couple of items and that I could either choose something else or wait for my order to be shipped in full and receive “a suprise gift” as an appolgy for the delay.
I said I would wait.
Well I didn’t think I would wait forever!!!
Needless to say I have emailed and emailed and emailed until my fingers are numb.
I did get 1 responce from Annette saying that my order had been shipped but as she could not find any consignement details and that she would make sure it was dispatched the following day – that should have been 26/11/08.
I have tried ringing but no reply.
Today I have gone onto the Hampshire Council website and completed one of their Trading Standards forms about this total sham.
Lets see if I hear anything from them!!!
Comment by Debra Gallagher December 2, 2008 @ 6:23 pmJust an update on the above. After many sturn emails to Annette, yesterday I received 2 emails saying that the problems were due to her unexpected ill health (seems that she has been ill for some time) but now she was back at work and sorting things out.
She has promised a refund on both mine and my husbands orders and attached copies of the refund transactions.
I will wait and see if these refunds go through but I have my doubts.
Comment by Debra Gallagher December 4, 2008 @ 6:26 amHi back again as have waited since beginning of Nov for the outstanding items on my delivery which amount to approx £15.00. Not much I know but it’s the principle now.Have emailed several times with no response, decided to look this web up today to see if the problems are continuing & suprise suprise they are! Will send another e mail and then the consumer template letter will follow. Keep you posted.
Comment by Carys James December 4, 2008 @ 11:00 ami am yet another victim of sleezybrew i placed a 40 pound order in oct08 and have had all the excuse e mails, illness is no excuse , i was laid off through illness in oct my order was my christmas drink , thank you annette , i just wish i lived close enough to you to beat some good buisness practices into youre head
Comment by kev smith January 5, 2009 @ 6:55 pmHi Guys.
Listen i ordered from easybrew last year and had the same problems as you all. I had to use dirty tactics to get things sorted and it worked. I can not pass on to you what i did but i can sugest the following. My last resort was to have the web site shut down and i contacted thier host. I can not do this any more as i have now had my order honoured but you can. If you contact the host and tell them that they are Hosting a fraudulent site that is taking money from people then they should shut it down. This will not help you but at least stop others being shafted! Good luck.
Comment by Nick January 15, 2009 @ 11:56 amEasybrew have changed the address and name of their website. It is now http://www.homebrewingandwinemaking.co.uk
Comment by Paul January 20, 2009 @ 12:55 pmI ordered £380 worth of goods from Easybrew and they took the money instantly. I received an email the next day as follows:
Dear xxxxxx
Thank you very much for your recent order. Please accept my apology but there will be a slight delay in your order being despatched, as we are out of stock of the item(s) below:
30 Bottle Equipment Kits , Kenridge Classic Pinot Grigio and Muntons Santa`s Winter Warmer
I have checked with our suppliers and we should be receiving them within the next 10 – 14 days (maximum) and your order will then be sent out to you on a next working day service.By way of apology for this delay, when we ship your order we will include a “little something” with my compliments.
If this delay is too long and you wish to change to an alternative product, please do let me know.
Best Regards

I never received any items until 6 weeks later and that was down to contacting my credit card company. When the items arrived, lots of items were missing and i have tried to no avail, contacting this so called company. They certainly gave me a”little something”. I have never come across such a corrupt and useless business! Stay well well away!!

They are very efficient and quick with orders
Comment by chris lockyer January 20, 2009 @ 3:28 pmhi just found this site and can,t believe what i,m reading i too have been done over by easycon placed a order in november and guess what order got lost i think this is a matter for the police
Comment by stu garratley February 13, 2009 @ 7:37 amThe reason the easybrew have changed thier web site is because thier old host has not renewed thier contract. I know this as i was talking to them at the end of last year when i was struggling to get my goods out of them.
Comment by Nick March 2, 2009 @ 10:38 amJust a quick comment to keep the information up to date and keep it at the top of the Google searches.
Comment by Michael Wareing March 17, 2009 @ 1:31 pmWe ordered from Easybrew in late Oct 2008 and didnt recieve any emails confirming reciept of the order or any kind of correspondance, but the credit card was charged immediately. After a few weeks passed, we attempted to call and email Easybrew several times to enquire about the order with no answer. Eventually we called the bank and they cancelled the charges etc. At this point we considered the order cancelled, until a box from Easybrew arrived and the credit card was charged for a second time. Bear in mind we still hadnt had any correspondance from Easybrew whatsoever, including any request to authorise a second credit card transaction. The final joke is that the box was missing 30% of the order, but they still had the audacity to make the unauthorised charge to the credit card for the full order value.
In my view this goes way beyond trading standards issues, and from reading around online it seems like its been happening since 2007. Hopefully if we make everyone aware of the problems, this is one company we can force to go under during the credit crunch/recession.
I made an order in Feb. Nothing arrived for weeks. I had to contact them multiple times to get anything delivered. Then half of the order arrived. After more e-mails, phone calls, got the rest. What arrived was very battered, but I had given up chasing them by then.

Comment by Peter July 7, 2009 @ 11:05 amHi All
I would like to ask that people so not confuse ‘EasyBrew.co.uk’ with my company ‘EasyHomeBrew.co.uk’.
We are a new company that have been selling homebrew supplies for only 6 months so far. We sell online and via our shop in Ashford, Kent.
We pride ourself on great customer service, and never let a customer down.
Thanks all
